about

simon creedy

I was born in Yorkshire. My Father was a Major in the British Army and he taught graphic design. My mother was a School Teacher.

Over my young life, we moved to many places including various places in England,  Düsseldorf and Dortmund in Germany, and eventually over 15 years living in three different locations around Winchester in Hampshire, England.

In the early 80's I studied Graphic Design at Southampton Technical College, Faculty of Art and Design and took several courses in Graphic Design for Print Production. I left college slightly confused as to what a graphic designer actually does until I got my first job where it all became clear to me.

In 1985 I worked for about a year and a half for a tool manufacturing company called Draper Tools, based in Chandlers Ford. As a junior Graphic Designer and Illustrator I found myself mocking up basic flyers and producing simple line artwork drawings of tools. After about a year I asked for a pay rise as my starting pay was very low. After discussions with my manager it appeared that they had no intention to promote me while they could continually replace cheap graphic design juniors with new qualifying students from the local college.

In 1987 I found myself disillusioned with Graphics and found a job in a supermarket (Sainsbury's in Winchester) that was looking for a customer service assistant (Doorman). This job paid me considerably more than my graphic design position and I thoroughly enjoyed being out in the fresh air collecting trolleys, picking up baskets and basically helping people. This was also where I met my wife Shoko.

In 1989 I applied for a Visa to immigrate to Australia where Shoko had 6 months prior gone.... and arrived 9 months later. While waiting for my Visa, I managed to get head hunted by Geoff Chown while working in the Supermarket. Geoff was a quite brilliant entrepreneur, who needed a display visualizer and graphic artist. I really enjoyed this work and had I not needed to get to Australia I would have happily stayed.

I arrived in Australia in June 1989 and immediately found a job with a top level graphic design and artwork studio in St Leonard's in Sydney, called Artworks where I teamed up with Colin Hamilton , an experienced Graphic Designer and Studio Manager and Les Herbert an dazzling sales manager and graphic artist. In this job I mainly worked to help pharmaceutical clients such as Johnson and Johnson, Upjohn and Roche working on packaging design and flyers. After 4 years I was promoted to senior designer.

In 1995, after working on some freelance work and being forced to reflect on my future and ability to buy a house on the earnings I had at the time.  I decided to start my own Graphic Design business. Called simply Simon Creedy. My very generous and good friend Suroosh Najmi who owned Najmi Computers gave me a tremendous start producing  adverts, in-house displays, posters flyers and signage.

Suroosh Najmi is the epitome of generosity, happiness, kindness and love. He took a huge chance with me and looking back I know I would never have been able to startup with out him. He later he moved to Pakistan and became a member of the Bahai National Assembly.

As time went on I focused on Logo Design and Branding Graphics and worked with a variety of different clients including Electrical Contractors, Plumbers, Builders, Pharmaceutical Companies, Investment People and IT Companies.

In the past 10 years I have become a successful and well known Graphic Designer specialising in every type of Corporate Graphic Design, Marketing, Print and Web Design. I have three websites that promote me as a Graphic Designer, a Logo Design Expert and a Brand Identity Specialist. I also have created this music website and a website for my newly developed cartoon dog books featuring Cody the Dog. My cartoon books are design for children and all people young at heart who enjoy fun, a love for adventure and happy endings.

In the last two years I have also published a series of illustrated Bahá’í Prayer books to answer the growing need for beautiful Bahá’í Books that are currently for sale in the UK, Australian and the United States of America.
